Man’s Greatest Desire Fulfilled

What is your greatest desire? In my own opinion I believe:
Man wants to see God
Man wants to know God
Man wants to talk to God
Man wants to feel God

This has been the talk for ages. Is there a God out there? Is heaven real? What does he look like? Does he function like we do I mean since they say we are made in his image? I know you may have come across such questions in your life and wondered what the answer might be?

Moses had the same desire

Ex 33:18

18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”

Philip had the same desire
John 14:8
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
KJV

I believe you too have the same desire.

However, can man see God and live? What does the bible say?

Isa 6:1-5
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

Man cannot see God and live, he will instantly die from his brightness. Does this mean therefore that man’s greatest desire is impossible? Not! It is God’s greatest desire that we get to know him better each day. Nothing will make him happier. So how can we make this dream come true? Study with me from the New Testament:

Show us the Father?

John 14:8-10

8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

How can you say, ‘Show us the father’? Here you go friends; man has had the greatest privilege of all that is to behold God. Jesus made all that possible by leaving his throne in the heavens and taking the form of man so that we humans can be able to see God and not die. In the previous lessons we talked about Jesus being a God and now we see him declaring that he and the Father are the same. “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip?. What do these words suggest to you? I don’t know about you but for me, Philip asked of the Father and Jesus was like, ‘here am I look no further.

Why did Jesus say so?

John 8:28
…I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

John 8:38
I speak that which I have seen with my Father:

John 5:19-20
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

John 5:17
But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
KJV

Jesus was a replica of God. He did as God taught him. He did what he saw God do. He spoke that which he heard the father speaking. He was in the Father and the Father was in Him. In other words, he was one with the Father. So what did Jesus do? One thing that we know for sure about Jesus is that he lived a sin-free life and close to the end of his ministry he had this to ask from everyone and there were no witnesses.

John 8:46
Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

Conclusion

To see God, to know God, to hear God, to walk with God, to feel God, and to be like God is to keep his commandments just like Jesus did

John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 3:6-9
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

If that is your greatest desire too then we need to surrender our lives to him who knows us well even the number of our hairs he knows. Israel had a perfect opportunity to walk at God’s feet but due to the cares of the world that opportunity passed by unnoticed. Do not let this one pass you by. By studying the character Jesus was and lived you have all the answers to who God is, what he likes, what he enjoys, and what he is doing? He enjoys bringing you and me and others to the light. He is in the business of saving the world from sin-filled darkness. All is left for us to hear and accept his calling

Isa 1:18-20
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

1 John 1:9-10
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
