Paid In Full

Have you ever wondered why so many people struggle with a lot of issues: addiction, unaccomplished goals, unfulfilled promises, infidelity, poverty, school, phobia, crisis, depression, laziness, lack of time, disease, and just sin, and so on?

Do you know you have got to deal with a certain life issue at some point but you are just procrastinating? Have you ever asked yourself why you have not made any progress yet? Your dreams, goals, promises and aspirations all but remain stuck in your head. Here is why.

Here is what you may be lacking. The bible says that all of us have sinned and we have come short of the glory of God. How do we close the gap between us and the glory of God? What is the glory of God? What or who can close this gap?

Jesus paid it all

Notice every time God’s power, character, will or presence is manifested it is considered as the Glory of God. Glory of God is not the paradise in fact other versions of the bible have it as ‘short of God’s standard’. Simply put it is not the glory of God that man should suffer from lack or want but it is his when his will is manifest in us. What is needed therefore to reach to his glory?

 2 Kings 13:14-19

14 Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” 15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,” and he did so. 16 “Take the bow in your hands,” he said to the king of Israel. When he had taken it, Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands. 17 “Open the east window,” he said, and he opened it. “Shoot!” Elisha said, and he shot. “The Lord’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram!” Elisha declared. “You will completely destroy the Arameans at Aphek.” 18 Then he said, “Take the arrows,” and the king took them. Elisha told him, “Strike the ground.” He struck it three times and stopped. 19 The man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times.”

Jehoash king of Israel realises that Elisha the prophet is soon to die and cries to him about the future of the land of Israel given its surrounding enemies. Victory is assured the king but it remains uncertain as to how many times or how long shall it last.

To determine this king Jehoash’s faith had to be tested. He fails the test and forfeits a permanent defeat of the Arameans earning just three years of victory. What went wrong? Where did King Jehoash miss the point?

God has opened doors for the accomplishment of all our needs and gives sure assurance of success. Victory, success, prosperity, healing, salvation and all is promised to us. We his children must do all in our power to bring about the promised result. In proportion to the enthusiasm and perseverance with which we put to the work will be the success given.

It’s like harvesting a fruit tree. All you need to do is to stretch your hands and grab all you can. On the cross Jesus paid it all. God can work miracles for His people only as they act their part with untiring energy until apparent defeat is turned into glorious victory.

1 Cor 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

I love this one. Whatever crisis or situation you are in the bible says that God has allowed this knowingly that if you exercise all your given powers you will overcome. So whatever predicament you are facing, be it an addiction, depression, anxiety, phobia, and all kinds of sin the secret to solving all that is within you.

The cross- symbol of God’s love to people

God will award your willingness your purposefulness, your perseverance, your untiring energy, your devotion, zeal and courage. It all starts by believing that he who designed and created us knows us better than we do and that if we trust in him who overcame all things we too can be overcomers.

Luke 1:37

37 For nothing is impossible with God.”

It is not faith to talk of impossibilities. Do you want to heal from an addiction, sickness, depression or sin? God is waiting on the other side with the solution in his mighty hand but he would not at the moment hand it to you because you haven’t made the first leap of faith.

He is waiting for you to trust and believe in him. He is waiting for you to allow him into your life. He is waiting for you to let him lead your life. He is waiting for you to face your fears. He wants you to renounce your old ways and take up a new life with him.

Our divine Lord is equal to any emergency. Come to Christ just as you are. Cast yourself wholly on His mercy. There is no difficulty within or without that cannot be surmounted in His strength.

Like the father of a boy who was possessed by a spirit from childhood you can say this prayer and God will hear you and come into your life. The father said Lord “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

God bless you as you ponder upon this lesson.
