How To Win God’s Heart

When studying the Bible you come across characters that were highly venerated by God and man. To some God sent Angels with compliments whilst for some it was Jesus himself who passed the comments.  From the termed righteous Noah, Abraham the father of faith and many nations, God’s friend Moses, David the man after God’s own heart, the well-favored Daniel, John the Greater of the prophets, Peter the Rock, to John the beloved disciple one wonders what secret they all shared.

How can you and I also have the same kind of adoration that these personalities received from God? Well! In this lesson, we seek to uncover that.

It’s that simple a solid TRUST in God is all they had. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word trust with the following important nouns:

Firm reliability of someone or something

Strong confidence in

Freedom from suspicion

Freedom from doubt

Sureness

Certainty

Show all that to God and you will be unstoppable.

Matt 17:19-20

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”  20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Why is it so hard to trust in the Lord? The funny thing is as humans we would rather trust our loved ones more than we trust God.  As couples or best friends, we have shared our innermost secrets something we don’t share with God.  When we are sick we trust the doctors with our lives and we are ready to do as they say again something we don’t share with God.

In my country I have seen people who have trusted man to the point of ingestion bleach in the belief that it will heal them of their maladies but yet God who would neither hurt nor embarrass us but simply say arise and walk we do not trust. I would not mention some who have gone to extremes of stripping naked in front of strangers in public and private places and even offering human sacrifices all in the hopes of having their desires granted.

Why risk our lives and go through such lengths all for nothing?

Ps 20:7-8

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise and stand firm.

The little boy David who found the king of Israel and all the army cowering because of a giant enemy that had challenged them only managed to kill it with just one stone because he had solid trust in the Lord. He had no experience with weapons or battle fights whatsoever. The only weapon he had was his God.

1 Sam 17:45-47

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head.

Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Jesus once said (Matt 18)”I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven”. He meant that we should trust God just like little kids. Every child comes into this world with one thing only and that is trust. They have no choice but to trust their parents with their lives. That is the kind of trust that it takes to please God.

Ps 25:3

3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.

So take this test today to become one of God’s favored individuals. See to it that you firmly rely on him more than anyone or anything. See to it that you have strong confidence in him over anyone or anything. See to it that you don’t suspect God would ever disappoint you in any time, day, way, or form (freedom from suspicion). See to it that you have zero doubt when it comes to God’s word (freedom from doubt) and finally see to it that you have excessive confidence in God (sureness and certainty) after this you will never be the same again.

Pray that God grant you this power because on your own you cannot do it.

Matt 21:22

22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

God bless you and see you in the next lesson
